Steelers LB Devin Bush

Devin Bush was forced to leave Week 5 early with (you guessed it) a groin injury. As a result, the young linebacker only played 25 defensive snaps against the Broncos. However, what we saw during that limited action was very good.

In the first half of the game, Bush was able to make some splash plays — sacking Teddy Bridgewater once while also earning a tackle for a loss and two quarterback hits. Equally as impressive is that Bush was excellent in coverage. Upon further review of the film, he appeared to be in perfect position on almost all of his coverage snaps.

While it’s important not to read too deeply into a performance that included less than half of the total defensive snaps, Bush was certainly trending in the right direction prior to his injury. He was even earning snaps as the lone dime linebacker — replacing Joe Schobert in this role.

Obviously, we will need to monitor his status for Week 6, as it’s quite possible that Devin Bush could miss this game with the groin injury. However, it was certainly encouraging to see him play some very good football before he was forced to exit the game.
