Steelers WR James Washington

Even though James Washington was ruled out of Pittsburgh’s Week 5 contest against the Broncos, his stock is rapidly rising. Though we are devastated to learn that JuJu Smith-Schuster will miss the remainder of 2021, his loss becomes a prime opportunity for Washington.

Like JuJu, Washington was a former second-round pick. However, he has had far less opportunity to showcase his talents since joining the team in 2018. Despite leading the Steelers in receiving in 2019 with Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges at quarterback, Washington went back to a reserve role with this team… That is, until now.

Though it looks as though the Steelers are going to be adding help to the wide receiver room, it is presumed that Washington is going to see much more playing time moving forward, and is expected to be the third receiver on the field in ’11’ personnel.

With a terrific opportunity at hand, I expect Washington to impress — much as he has early in his career when given the opportunity. His stock is on the rise after JuJu’s season-ending shoulder injury.
