50. . . . Detroit Lions. 29. team

29. Detriot Lions

I know it seems a bit high having a winless Detriot Lions team at 29, but I think they have been better than the teams underneath them, despite their current 0-5 record. If you recall, this team lost by just two points against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. Last week, they almost knocked off the Minnesota Vikings in a 19-17 road loss.

Though Detriot was getting blown out early in the season, it looks as though this defense is finally starting to hit their stride. Over the past three contests, they’ve allowed just 20.6 points per game. This is good enough to keep them in most contests.

In addition, quarterback Jared Goff is currently outplaying the passers below the Lions in these power rankings. The former number one overall pick didn’t live up to lofty expectations, but he has been a part of some high-powered offenses and still could help elevate this team that is otherwise lacking talent.

Detroit is coming off a two-point loss last week. In Week 6, they will get a Bengals team on their own turf, and it’s possible the Lions could come away with their first win of the season. They have come close to a few already.
