2. Drew Lock

Drew Lock is another highly touted young quarterback who has yet to amount to the player his team hoped he would be. Lock was selected with the 42nd overall pick in 2019 by the Denver Broncos and was expected to be their long-term starter.

However, the team signed Teddy Bridgewater this offseason, and he won the starting quarterback job in Training Camp. Denver jumped out to a 3-0 start this season before Bridgewater got a concussion against the Ravens and was forced to leave early.

Assuming Bridgewater stays under center as the starter for the full season, Drew Lock could become available via trade. Bridgewater is only 28 years old, and since he’s shown success with Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant, and the rest of the Broncos’ offense he may be viewed as a piece that they’d like to hold onto, which would make Lock expendable.

Like the previously mentioned quarterbacks, Pittsburgh could represent a fresh start for Pittsburgh who likely could acquire Lock without giving up their first-round selection. Doing this would give the Steelers ammunition to continue strengthening the roster.

While Lock would have to massively improve his play, his youth and raw talent combined with the weapons of Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, Najee Harris, and Pat Freiermuth that he’d be joining, make him an intriguing option for the Steelers. The potential discount price, combined with his talent and the ability to retain the first-round pick make this an option to keep an eye on if he becomes available.
