Will Steelers receivers be enough against Seahawks?
Juju Smith-Schuster will miss time nursing a shoulder injury. Will The Steelers rely on their other receivers to keep their season alive?
Momentum is hard to find in the National Football League. The Steelers have found this to be true this season. Mike Tomlin’s crew began the 2021 regular season with a chip on their shoulder. The chip grew larger as the team experienced consecutive losses. When Pittsburgh needed to respond, they did so in a winning fashion. Their week five victory against the Broncos kept the team’s season alive.
Pittsburgh’s offense showed glimpses of success on Sundays. Ben Roethlisberger performed despite speculation of his career coming to an end. His 253 yards passing showed spectators that he could still play with the best. Roethlisberger’s two touchdowns contributed to Pittsburgh’s twenty-seven combined points. One of his touchdown recipients was Chase Claypool.
It has been a minute since Chase Claypool has played a standout game. His touchdown reception in week five was his first of the season. Defenses across the league have refused to let the six-foot-five receiver’s big-play ability beat them this season. Claypool’s 9 touchdowns in 2020 were enough for teams to focus on him as a number one option.
Diontae Johnson has benefitted the most from Claypool’s recent success. The Steelers have utilized Johnson in the slot while teams focus on their second-year player. When this happens, Diontae Johnson is assigned to a linebacker or safety. the defense at a disadvantage. Johnson has recorded 305 yards receiving this season. He is also the Steelers leading receiver.
Momentum Change
The Steelers’ receiving core performed well last week. Their efforts kept the Broncos’ defense on their throughout the game. While battling for victory, the Steelers experienced a devastating blow. According to ESPN.com, JuJu Smith-Schuester suffered a shoulder injury and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers must fight to keep the momentum alive after their win last week. The Seattle Seahawks will be visiting Heinz field without their starting quarterback. Russell Wilson will be watching from the sidelines as he nurses a finger injury.
Ben Roethlisberger and the offense must find a way to move the ball downfield in Smith-Schuster’s absence. When the Steelers pass the ball effectively, their running game flourishes. Najee Harris will be someone the Steelers will rely on as they try to keep their offense balanced. His twenty-three carries and 122 yards last Sunday aided Pittsburgh in their victory. The Steelers need to rely on their offensive weapons to obtain a win in week six.
