Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt

When T.J. Watt is healthy and at his best, you’d be hard-pressed to find another defensive player who has a bigger impact on the game than him. In fact, you could make a strong case that the Steelers have two fewer wins this season if it weren’t for Watt (I’m thinking about his stellar performances against both the Seahawks in Week 6 and the Bills in Week 1).

On Sunday Night Football, Watt was unquestionably the best player on either side of the ball for either football team, and he had the statistical production to back up the dominance we saw on tape. Watt finished the game with 7 tackles, 2.0 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss, 3 pass defenses, 2 quarterback hits, and a forced fumble in overtime that ultimately sealed the victory.

After dealing with a groin injury for the past several weeks, Watt finally looks completely healthy again, and he’s showing the Steelers just why they were willing to break the trend and pay him early. Watt is so good that his presence on the field can help keep Pittsburgh in most games this season.

There are other notable players worth mentioning, but these five were a cut above the rest with their performances on Sunday Night Football and their stock continues to rise heading into the Week 7 bye.
