10. Tennesse Titans

The Titans received a boost in my power rankings after proving they can hang with the big dogs. Though they were just a Josh Allen QB sneak away from losing on Monday Night, Derek Henry and the Titans bulldozed their way to a very impressive win. They could further solidify their reputation with a win over the Chiefs this week.

9. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs haven’t been nearly as dominant in the early going as most fans expected. Patrick Mahomes is one of the league leaders in turnovers this year, but Kansas City is still managing to score 30.8 points per game. The issues, however, are on the defensive side of the ball where the Chiefs are allowing 29.3 points per game to their opponents. I still think the Chiefs are contenders this year, but they have slipped in my NFL power rankings.

8. Green Bay Packers

After getting pulverized by the New Orleans Saints back in Week 1, the Packers have been nearly perfect — winning four straight games against the 49ers, Steelers, Bengals, and Bears. They get one more easy game against Washington before facing the Arizona Cardinals on the road in Week 8. Their performance in that contest will be telling.

7. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers looked like the team to beat in the AFC after putting up a whopping 47 points in a win against the Cleveland Browns. However, they plummeted back down to earth in Week 7 — losing 34-6 against the Baltimore Ravens. There were some big missed opportunities in this game, so I’m not ready to let them slip too far in my rankings, but they need to take care of the Patriots at home following their bye week.

6. Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson is the real deal, folks, and he seems to be returning to MVP form. Though they’ve had some close encounters, the Baltimore Ravens have beaten quality opponents like the Chiefs and Chargers already this year. With a pair of difficult games coming up, John Harbaugh’s team could climb further up the ladder.
