Jimmy Garoppolo, Quarterback, San Francisco 49ers

Jimmy Garoppolo was just playing in the Super Bowl a couple of seasons ago. There is now a young quarterback in the 49ers franchise that will be the future. Trey Lance is an electric young player and someone that should be the starter.

Garoppolo will need to find a new home and that should help his career. It might not be an instant starting spot but he will get a chance to compete somewhere. He has been fighting for a starting spot for the majority of his career so this won’t be new territory for this player.

There are always teams looking for a proven veteran quarterback in the NFL so this is not the end for Garoppolo. The biggest issue for him has been injuries and consistency. He has not been able to continuously put it all together during his career for those two reasons.

He will likely be searching for a new home after this season and teams will come calling, especially those in desperate need of a starting-caliber player. He will be turning 30 in November so that is another interesting component of this player. He should still be in his prime. The biggest issue will be how much this player will cost his next team. Will it be at his current cap hit in a trade situation or a new contract if he is released? That could be another interesting development when it comes time to find this quarterback a new home.
