Potential Steelers trade scenarios ahead of the NFL trade deadline
Could a Steelers CB be dealt?
While people have talked about the possibility of trading Haden for several weeks, it could come to fruition if the latest rumors are true. As week six in the NFL started, a rumor began circulating that the Dallas Cowboys had contacted the Steelers to acquire Joe Haden.
While not verified, there are two apparent sources, it either originated on Twitter or potentially came from Bleacher Report. In either case, fans need to take the rumor with a grain of salt. Not that it couldn’t happen unless more info comes out; it may only be a rumor.
Rumor aside, the idea is not too far-fetched. The Dallas Cowboys, at the end of week six, are 5-1 and having their best season and poised for a playoff run. So shoring up their secondary makes sense, and perhaps Joe Haden could do that.
Of course, on the flip side, the rumor gave no details as to what or who the Steelers would get in return. Supposing the rumor is true for a moment, any trade would or should at least be one draft selection in 2022 as the Steelers only have five. That said, they could ask for a player too. Options could range from Ty Nsekhe at left tackle, Connor McGovern Left Guard. However, considering the Cowboys have shallow depth on their offensive line, that could be iffy at best. They could ask for a wide receiver such as Noah Brown or Malik Turner. If the Steelers want to go defense, there are linebackers Jabril Cox, Jourdain Lewis, C.J. Goodwin, or Jayron Kearse.
It’s hard to figure exactly what the trade would look like ultimately; however, as the trade deadline looms, it will be interesting to see if anything actually develops.
