Running Back Atlanta

Perhaps this scenario is a bit more wishful thinking. That said, others might ask why Mike Davis? With others asking why would Atlanta trade Davis? And then perhaps suggest that anyone making the suggestion seek help for substance abuse addiction.

Here this out, though, there is a sound rationale behind the logic. The Falcons are 2-3 and have two games before the trade deadline with the Dolphins and Panthers. They are not the high-powered team they were with Julio Jones in his prime, and Matt Ryan is nearing the end of his career.  The chances of them making a playoff run this season are slim at best.

If the Falcons lose at least one of those two games, they are 3-4; if they lose both, they are 2-5 with the Saints and Cowboys following. Right now, the Falcons’ only two wins are the Giants and Jets. If they lose the last two games in October, their season is effectively over.

The Steelers, while having Najee Harris, could use a sound backup in case of a late-season injury to Najee. Mike Davis could fill that role, certainly much better than Benny Snell, and then they can begin mixing in Anthony McFarland. Thus they still stay competitive in the rushing game.

Considering Davis was only an interim running back to replace Todd Gurley, the Steelers could either trade Snell, Ballage, or even perhaps Jaylen Samuels, currently on the practice squad.  With that, throw in a few draft picks, and the Falcons can start the rebuilding process, and the Steelers have an insurance policy should something happen to Harris.
