Steelers Hardy Nickerson

Odds of making it: 8 percent

Hardy Nickerson is an interesting case, as he was widely effective as an off-ball linebacker when he played. He split most of his career between the Steelers and the Buccaneers, and his bottom-line stats were noteworthy. Nickerson registered just under 1600 total tackles to go along with five Pro Bowls and two All-Pro nods.

The issue is, he faces some stiff competition this year. The most established name he is going up against is London Fletcher. While he lacks the Pro Bowl and All-Pro nods, his stats are far more impressive. He has just over 2000 tackles and as well as 23 interceptions. Add in a player like Patrick Willis, who could see a Calvin Johnson-like treatment considering his early retirement, and Nickerson may have to wait to see himself get inducted.

Down the road, Nickerson could find his way into the Hall of Fame, but he may have to wait. While a tremendous player in his prime, Nickerson has stiff competition to make it this year and he will likely have to wait a few more years before he gets a gold jacket. His odds are better than Hampton, but still not great.
