2. Steelers must consider Denzel Mims

With JuJu Smith-Schuster injured and not playing for the rest of the season, it is pivotal that the team keeps their receiving room deep and ready to go at a moment’s notice. While the Steelers can still field three good receiving options, the depth at the position has greatly decreased. Denzel Mims, the Jets’ second-round pick from a year ago, is a name that would make a lot of sense for the team to target.

Mims is your typical height-weight-speed player, but he hasn’t been able to find much of a role with the Jets so far. Buried behind fellow young receivers and free-agent signings, Mims has been mostly an afterthought in this offense. He has even seen time as a healthy scratch, a bad indicator for his future. That all said, he is only in his second season and there is still a chance for him to turn his career around.

Having him on the outside and Chase Claypool in the slot would be a dangerous combination, as both have the athleticism that can burn a defense. Long term, Mims could fill in as the Z receiver for the team as Claypool becomes more of a permanent slot receiver. With his value at an all-time low, trading for Mims now could pay dividends for this offense in the future.
