1. Can the Steelers’ offense add a wrinkle?

The Steelers’ offense has been nothing short of horrible this season. No matter if they are facing a great defense or a mediocre one, this unit consistently comes out with a below-average and predictable game plan. While limited by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, this group still has to find a better way to make an impact and score more points. The defense isn’t playing at an elite level, so the offense has to compensate.

Unfortunately, things won’t get much better for Roethlisberger at his age. That said, the team could rely on a new wrinkle or two in the offense to get a spark. For starters, running a few receiver sweeps could be a helpful look. Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, and even Ray-Ray McCloud all can do some damage with the ball in their hands, so getting them involved as runners could spark some movement on a drive or two.

The offense doesn’t have to revolutionize itself, but it needs to add some sort of new facet to its game. While Najee Harris has helped get this unit moving in the right direction, he alone can’t be relied on to carry this offense right now. A trick play, some sweeps, or even some new offensive looks could help provide a spark this offense desperately needs.
