5 Bold predictions for Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland

4. Steelers stop Browns receivers, not the tight ends

The Browns passing attack isn’t the typical threat that most passing offenses are in the modern league. It is entirely designed to be efficient around the rushing offense, as the Browns don’t force the ball down the field via the air. All of this despite boasting a talented receiving group that consists of Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry. I think the Steelers do well to stop them this week.

The one unique factor to the Cleveland passing offense is their use of multiple tight ends. All three of their tight ends can get involved in the passing game, and each is capable of making a big play. While Joe Schobert should do well covering one of these options, the Steelers don’t have enough coverage linebackers to be effective here. They haven’t been bad at covering tight ends so far, but the triple threat that the Browns post with theirs is a unique challenge.

I believe the Steelers will shut down the Browns receivers for the most part, as the corners pair favorably to the receivers’ strengths. As for the tight ends, I believe the team will be exposed this week. The Browns will still be a run-heavy unit, but I’m expecting a big game from Austin Hooper and David Njoku. As well, Harrison Bryant will be a sneaky check-down option. The receivers should get covered up well, but the tight ends may run wild.
