The NFL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and these three players could help the Pittsburgh Steelers make a playoff push this year.

With the NFL trade deadline just around the corner, Kevin Colbert is going to be exploring some last-minute options to bolster this Steelers roster. Pittsburgh is coming off their third straight win and recently advanced to 4-3 on the season with a win over the Browns in Week 8.

Already, we saw the Rams make a blockbuster trade for edge defender Von Miller, and moves by other competitive teams will be sure to follow. Here are three trade candidates who could help improve Pittsburgh’s playoff odds before the NFL trade deadline:

Washington NT Tim Settle

Tim Settle isn’t a household name, but he’s a player who deserves much more recognition for his stellar play this season. Despite being just a part-time player for Washington, Settle has impressed in limited action and has gotten better in each of his first four seasons.

Currently, Pro Football Focus has Settle earning a 76.0 overall grade through Week 8. While he doesn’t offer much as a pass rusher, the 6’3”, 328 nose tackle can stuff running lanes with the best of them, and he’s currently being underutilized by Washington.

The defensive line is the strength of this Steelers team, but Pittsburgh lost Tyson Alualu for the season, and we don’t know if/when we will be getting Stephon Tuitt back. Settle could start at nose tackle in Steelers base 3-4 defense and offer great interior depth at the cost of a late-round pick in 2023.
