Cowboys OT La’el Collins

Here is a potential trade candidate that makes far too much sense to ignore. Right tackle is one of the weakest positions on Pittsburgh’s roster. Chukwuma Okorafor has not only failed to live up to expectations, but he also becomes an unrestricted free agent following the 2021 season. Though the Steelers could make a switch to Zach Banner, there’s no guarantee that Banner is even a better option at this point.

One player who clearly would be is Cowboys right tackle, La’el Collins. Collins is in his 6th NFL season and is on his second contract, but his deal is quite manageable — especially considering the talent. Dallas already paid all of his guaranteed money this year and he would cost the Steelers just $1.5 million against the cap, according to Over the Cap.

What would be great about this trade is that it would give the Steelers a true centerpiece on the offensive line to build around, and Collins is under a good contract through the 2024 season.

The Cowboys could be willing to part with Collins as they really like the performances they’ve been getting out of developmental OT, Terence Steele. This trade may cost Pittsburgh as much as a 2nd round pick or perhaps a pair of mid-round picks, but they would get an immediate upgrade at the right tackle position.
