Steelers OG Kevin Dotson

There was really never any doubt for me that Kevin Dotson wasn’t the best offensive lineman on this team in 2021. Despite a thoroughly impressive 360 offensive snaps during his rookie season, Dotson’s play seemed like a bit of a letdown early in the season. I think this may have been due to trying to offer too much help to the rookies he is pinned between on the offensive line (Dan Moore Jr. and Kendrick Green).

Over his past four games, however, Dotson has looked much more like the player we all hoped he would be. Against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8, the powerful offensive guard was throwing defensive lineman left and right.

While his pass sets were not perfect against a talented Browns’ defensive front, he bullied defenders at the point of attack in the running game, and most of his counterparts followed suit. As a result, the Steelers were able to breeze past their third straight 100-yard rushing game during their win streak.

This is a young, inexperienced group of offensive lineman outside of Trai Turner, but Dotson is the leader of the pack, and he showed it in Week 8. The arrow is pointing up for this man and the Steelers offensive line as a unit.
