5 Steelers players trending up following Week 8 win vs Browns
By Tommy Jaggi
Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth
As much as I could go on about Zach Gentry’s performance in Week 8, rookie tight end Pat Feiermuth is all the more impressive. Looking at the box score, you wouldn’t have assumed that the rookie tight end made much of a dent in this game. However, he was clutch when his team needed him most.
In addition to a few huge third-down receptions that he fought through tackles and kept the chains moving, Freiermuth had the grab of the night when he displayed the focus to reel in a difficult touchdown pass despite a terrific effort from the defender.
Freimuth isn’t a behemoth like Gentry, but he has the best of both worlds. At 6’5” and 258 pounds, he can move like a big wide receiver and is silky-smooth before and after the catch.
Pat Freiermuth continues to trend up and he has given fans every reason to believe that he’s going to be the next great tight end in Pittsburgh — something this team really hasn’t had since the retirement of Heath Miller. He should be key for the Steelers down the stretch as well as years into the future.
