Steelers positional report card in win against Browns
Offensive positional grades (cont.)
Wide receivers: B
Diontae Johnson continued to thrive as Pittsburgh’s No. 1 receiver, recording six catches for 98 yards. Chase Claypool also contributed four catches for 45 yards. Aside from Johnson and Claypool, the only other receiver production was one, four yard catch from James Washington. While a good day from the top two guys, Washington has room to be more impactful, and the unit as a whole needs to find the end zone.
Tight ends: A
When it was announced that Eric Ebron would miss the game, many knew it would be a bigger opportunity for Pat Freiermuth to step into his role as the teams No. 1 tight end, and that he did. Freiermuth finished with four catches, 44 yards, and one amazing juggling touchdown catch. Zach Gentry also contributed three catches for 39 yards and the tight ends really made themselves a factor in the passing game.
Offensive line: C+
The offensive line took another step in the right direction on Sunday. Behind them, Pittsburgh ran for a total of 115 yards on 32 carries for a 3.6 average; they also only gave up two sacks. While the improvements were noticeable, so was the performance of Browns’ defensive end Myles Garrett. Garrett had one sack, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and was able to dominate the offensive line putting his hand print in the game.
