Steelers Rookie on a Roll

Najee Harris now leads all Steelers’ running backs in attempts and yardage after their first seven games. Following the victory over Cleveland, he has 128 rushes with 479 yards, and he surpasses Le’Veon Bell, who had 120 attempts and 375 yards after his first seven games.  However, another Harris from 1972 still tops Najee for yards per attempt with 5.06 after his first seven games.

Najee Harris is still in the race for most receptions for a rookie running back. He finished his 7th game with 37 overall receptions, and he surpassed Jahvid Best’s mark of 36 from 2010. He sits behind Saquon Barkley, who had 49 after his first seven games in 2018, and Earl Cooper, who had 40 in 1980.

Kicking or Sticking

The Steelers, due to the injury to Chris Boswell, attempted four fourth downs against the Browns. It’s their most fourth-down attempts by the Steelers since a 2007 loss to the New England Patriots. Since Pittsburgh played this game on Halloween, and they had to make so many attempts to keep drives alive, it created another anomaly: the Steelers’ first victory since 2004, having four plus fourth-down attempts. That aside, the Steelers improved their record to a mere 2-9 when they have had four or more fourth-down attempts in a game since they started recording this stat in 1991.
