More Halloween Oddities

Sunday’s contest was the first game and the 2nd in the rivalry between the teams that they played to a 3-3 tie in the first half. The last time that happened was 12/22/1991. The Steelers are now 2-0 against the Browns when they have played to a 3-3 tie in the first half.

However, against all NFL teams, it is the 15th game in team history that they had a 3-3 tie at halftime and the first since a Halloween game in 2010 against the Saints. Also, it’s their first against an AFC team since 1998, playing to a 3-3 first-half tie against the Ravens in 1998.  While now having a 2-0 record against the Browns against the NFL on the whole, the Steelers improved to 7-9.

Even Odder

The final score was 15-10 in favor of the Steelers. It was the first victory in franchise history, winning 15-10. However, it was only the 20th such game in league history and the first since 2017 when it happened twice that season.  But the very odd occurrence is that this is the third time in franchise history the Steelers had a final score of 15-10. Of all the NFL 20 NFL games that have ended with a 15-10 score, the AFC North/Central teams have a combined league-high nine games ending with a  15-10 score. The Browns are now 0-4, Steelers 1-3, Ravens 1-3, and the Bengals 2-0. It is also the 3rd such game between AFC North division rivals and the first one since 2010 when the Bengals knocked off the Ravens.
