Steelers trade up for Devin Bush

The rest of the story has still yet to be written here and Devin Bush could turn things around, but so far, the former Michigan linebacker hasn’t been worth a fraction of the draft capital the Pittsburgh Steelers spent to move up for him in 2019.

I really liked Bush as a prospect. I thought he was physical with terrific sideline-to-sideline speed and the ability to make splash plays all over the field. However, he wasn’t a perfect prospect either. Though he had elite athletic traits, bush measured in at just 5’11” on the dot at the 2019 NFL Combine.

This clearly was not enough to scare Pittsburgh away. On draft day, the Steelers packaged a first and second-round pick together to move up to the 10th overall spot in the draft to secure their linebacker.

While we couldn’t have predicted that Bush would tear his ACL just five games into his second NFL season, his play certainly hasn’t been worth spending elite draft capital on. This was one of the biggest draft trades in the Kevin Colbert era, but it has simply not panned out the way fans had hoped it would.
