The Pittsburgh Steelers need to get creative in the 2022 NFL draft. If they do not go out and sign or trade for a quarterback, the Steelers will need to use their early draft capital to get one.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have one of the worst offensive lines this season. Even though they have been improving each week, it needs addressing during the draft. They also have an aging quarterback that will not be here in the 2022 season. This puts the Steelers in a tough situation for the 2022 NFL draft because of the important needs of the organization.

The Steelers will need to use their first-round pick for a quarterback in my opinion, so here are 3 under the radar offensive lineman the Steelers must consider drafting in the late rounds of the 2022 NFL draft.

Cade Mays, Right Tackle -Tennessee

Cade Mays would be a guy I would like to see the Pittsburgh Steelers take a chance on in the later rounds of the 2022 NFL draft. Mays stands at 6’6” and weighs 325lbs and is draft-eligible after this season. If the Steelers want to improve their offensive line next year, this could be their guy.

In 7 games, Mays has been a good pass blocker at the right tackle position. Tennessee has thrown the ball 190 times this year and Mays has been almost perfect with his blocking. He has not allowed a sack or even a hit on the quarterback through 7 games. He has only allowed three hurries on the quarterback which gives him an impressive 99.1 % efficiency rate.

As a run blocker, Mays has played in every snap when the ball is in the running backs’ hands. He has only drawn 2 holding calls in 179 runs this year. Tennessee has been one of the best rushing teams in the nation this year averaging 226.0 yards a game. They are currently ranked 15th in rushing in all of college football and Mays is a key reason why. The Steelers should consider drafting him in next year’s draft.
