Zachary Thomas, Left Tackle – San Diego State

Zachary Thomas is a guy that no one is paying attention to this year, but he is quietly having one of the best seasons an offensive lineman can have. Thomas stands at 6’5” and weighs 300lbs and is draft eligible after the season. This is a player the Steelers could end up drafting in the later rounds because of how low his draft stock is. The combine might boost his stock but as of right now he is sleeper in the 2022 NFL draft.

Through 7 games this year, Thomas has been one of the best as a pass blocker. San Diego State has thrown 166 times this year and Thomas has been perfect blocking his opposing defender all 166 times allowing 0 sacks, 0 hits on the quarterback, and just 5 hurries on his side of the line. This gives him a 98.4% efficiency rate.

As a run blocker, Thomas has been just as good. San Diego State has run the ball 240 times this year and Thomas has kept his blocks and it has shown for the team. San Diego State is averaging 207.1 yards a game which ranks 26th in all of college football. This is the kind of player Pittsburgh should be looking out for in the later rounds of the 2022 draft.
