Can the Steeler make Fields pay?
It certainly hasn’t been the year that Justin Fields wanted, as the rookie has struggled to do much of anything in the air since taking over. This is in part due to the Bears lacking receivers besides their top two targets and their offensive line being miserable at pass blocking, but Fields’ decision-making and timing have been questioned by the fanbase this season.
The Steelers have a rich history of playing well against rookie quarterbacks, and with T.J. Watt and the pass rush set to have one of their easiest matchups of the season, Fields should be in for a long day. This game should continue that narrative, as there is little reason that Fields should excel in this game. The Steelers defense needs to be all over the rookie.
While Fields can do some damage with his legs, the team needs to focus on keeping his passing numbers miserable. The Steelers should add to their sack totals by games end and, hopefully, add to their total interceptions on the season. There is no reason Fields should do well in this game. The Steelers have to continue to make Fields starts during his rookie season hard ones to watch.
The Steelers have a favorable matchup this Monday as they are set to take on a disappointing Bears team. That said, no game is a given in the NFL, as any team can pull an upset when you are least expecting it. Keep these four questions in mind as the Steelers face off against the Bears in week nine.
