3 Steelers players who stepped up in Week 9 against the Bears
By Scott Long
1. Steelers K Chris Boswell
It’s not often that a kicker is the most important player in a game for a team in today’s offense heavy NFL. However, there is no doubt that Chris Boswell was the Steelers’ most important player Monday night against the Bears.
Despite missing an extra point in the game, Boswell’s play the rest of the game was so impressive and integral to the team’s success. He nailed two out of his three PATs, while also going 3-3 on field goal attempts, including two from over 50 yards, and the game winning 40-yard kick with 26 seconds left.
If that wasn’t enough, Boswell also recovered a fumble after James Pierre forced the ball out of Jakeem Grant’s hands on a kickoff.
Boswell’s clutch performance on Monday was further proof that he remains one of the league’s best and most clutch kickers. If Boswell keeps up this level of play, he has a legitimate argument as the best kicker in Steelers’ history.
The Steelers will look to extend their winning streak to 5 games next week at home against the Detroit Lions. These three will look to carry their strong play over into next week, while others will look to help out.
