5 realistic veteran quarterback options for Steelers after Ben Roethlisberger
3. Tyrod Taylor
Tyrod Taylor is a quarterback that has played for five different teams, and always seems to lose his starting spot in some unfortunate fashion. He was the starter with the Cleveland Browns before being injured which began the Baker Mayfield era and was the starter with the Los Angeles Chargers before having his lung punctured by a team doctor in an attempt to inject a pain killer. That effectively ended his time in Los Angeles as Justin Herbert took over and never looked back.
Now, this season, Taylor was starting with the Houston Texans and playing well before injuring his hamstring in Week 2. With Deshaun Watson set to be traded eventually, Houston might get a quarterback in return or its 1-8 record will lead the franchise to having their choice of a top quarterback in the draft. Either way, Taylor’s time is likely done at the conclusion of his one-year deal.
In six quarters prior to his injury, Taylor had thrown 416 yards and three touchdowns while completing 70.5% of his passes, while adding another 55 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Pittsburgh can be the perfect next stop for Taylor, and depending on who else the Steelers sign, he could make it a multi-year partnership if he stays healthy.
