5 realistic veteran quarterback options for Steelers after Ben Roethlisberger
1. Aaron Rodgers
This would be an absolute dream signing for the Steelers, but it isn’t outside the realm of possibility. The 7-2 start by the Green Bay Packers has put the off-season dysfunction between Aaron Rodgers and the franchise in the back of people’s minds, but the rift is still there.
Rodgers had a very public trade request, before coming to a compromise with the Packers that gives the two a potential out following the season. Ahead of the season, both Rodgers and receiver Davante Adams posted pictures of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, alluding to the idea that it is their last dance with the team.
In Week 4 of the season, the Packers faced off against the Steelers with Green Bay winning 27-17. What was interesting to watch though was the love fest between Rodgers and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
During the game, they exchanged smirks as they were trying to out scheme each other, and afterward, they expressed their love and respect for each other.
With Rodgers soon to be in the market for a new team and Pittsburgh in the market for a new quarterback, the mutual respect between Tomlin and Rodgers could lead to a partnership. This would be the best-case scenario for the Steelers, moving on from one Hall of Fame quarterback to another, that is still playing at an elite level.
Pittsburgh well have a lot of decisions to make once the offseason approaches, but none will be bigger than deciding what direction to go for a new quarterback.
