The NFL trade deadline has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the Steelers should stop looking at potential upgrades.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were only sellers at the November 2nd trade deadline. There are positions that the Steelers could use some help at or even depth. Few players still don’t have teams that would be an interesting pickup. Here are 5 players the Steelers should sign after the trade deadline.

Steelers could use OT Demar Dotson

Even though the Steelers’ offensive line is improving, it doesn’t hurt to bring in an extra lineman to force competition or even for depth. Demar Dotson has had a lengthy stay in the NFL for some time but is currently sitting in the free-agent pool.

The 36-year old veteran last played for the Denver Broncos in 2020 where he played only 451 offensive snaps and caused 3 penalties and gave up no sacks. The role that I could potentially see him playing is either on special teams or as an extra lineman on runs. Joey Hagg does already kind of own that role but Dotson stands at 6′ 9″ and weighs 315 pounds, which is taller and heavier than Haeg.

Dotson is someone who has progressed over his 11-year career and started to hold his own on the right side of the line in 2016. There are of course downsides to his playing style as he commits many penalties and missed a lot of games over the years. Still, he would be a cheap option and if he doesn’t play that much and is used in the run game or even just as depth then there is a much lower chance of him getting hurt.
