Steelers DL Cameron Heyward

I’m convinced that Cameron Heyward has the ‘Benjamin Button’ disease. The older he gets, the better he seems to play. Being 32 years old isn’t ancient, but I’m still in awe of how impressive the big defensive lineman has been for the Steelers in his 11th NFL season.

Once again, Heyward didn’t need to wreck the stat sheet to prove his worth. Against the Bears in Week 9, he was credited with just 2 tackles, 0 sacks, and 0 tackles for a loss. However, he chipped in 3 quarterback hits and a point-blank interception at the line of scrimmage.

Heyward was also a disruptive force against Chicago — changing the direction of the running game and continually forcing Justin Fields out of the pocket. He earned the highest defensive grade on the team this week, according to Pro Football Focus — which is becoming routine for him.

With the Steelers trying to make one final run with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, some of Cameron Heyward’s best football couldn’t be coming at a better time. His stock is soaring, and he and the great Aaron Donald are in their own tier among interior NFL defenders right now.
