6 Steelers whose stock is crashing entering Week 10
By Tommy Jaggi
Steelers SS Terrell Edmunds
Terrell Edmunds has never been a player who has been great at taking the ball away. In fact, he has just 4 interceptions in 55 career NFL games (51 starts). However, I thought Edmunds has been more consistent in coverage over the past two seasons. That certainly wasn’t the case in Week 9.
After having a pretty good start to his 2021 season, Edmunds saw arguably his worst defensive performance against the Bears. He was late to react on several occasions and gave up a few big passes down the field. Edmunds also surrendered a fourth-quarter touchdown in his coverage that made this game much closer than it needed to be.
If we are being fair, nobody in the secondary had a particularly good game, but this was one of the worst performances I’ve seen from the strong safety since his second season in 2019. Pittsburgh’s first-round safeties haven’t done enough this season, and Edmunds needs to play better — especially if he wants to earn a big payday following the 2021 season.
There were plenty of other Steelers who had less than stellar performances this week, but these six were incredibly underwhelming. Let’s hope they can turn things around against a bad Lions team in Week 10.
