Steelers fans would love to have RB D’Andre Swift

Imagine the Steelers running back room with Najee Harris and D’Andre Swift as the 1 & 2 punch. Swift would play the receiving back role that Anthony McFarland Jr. is currently playing and he would dominate it. Obviously, Najee Harris is capable of catching the football as he has shown this year, but this addition would help the Steelers not run the wheels off of their prized running back. So far in 2021, Swift has more receiving yards than rushing yards and has already eclipsed most of last year’s end stats in receiving categories. D’Andre isn’t just used as a receiver, he also ran the ball 114 times in 2020 and 90 times so far in 2021 and has good stats for what he was given.

The big idea of the Steelers having D’Andre Swift is when Najee is out for a play or two or he is injured, the rushing game doesn’t fall apart with Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland Jr. getting touches. The offense would also have another weapon and at a position where talent and depth are skim. Swift ran for 521 yards and 8 touchdowns last season while getting 40 yards a game and 4.6 per attempt.

He also had 357 yards and 2 touchdowns receiving last year while averaging 7.8 yards per reception and 27.5 yards per game. D’Andre would produce in a Matt Canada offense and for the Steelers to have an established running and receiving back of high production, it would mean the offense will just be missing a quarterback after Ben Roethlisberger.
