Steelers fans would love to have TE T.J. Hockenson

For the same reasons as to why Steelers fans should want D’Andre Swift, T.J. Hockenson would be not only a good depth piece to have but an amazing player to team up with Pat Freiermuth. Both tight ends are the same size and only have a 10-pound difference in weight.

The tight end from Iowa has become better and better over his short career and has become a safety blanket for QBs in Detriot. In 2020 Hockenson made his first Pro Bowl because of a 700+ yard and 6 touchdown performance that he accumulated over all 16 games.

Hockenson was an elite blocking tight end in college but has struggled with that area of his game early in his career, so the blocking would be up to Zach Gentry. Just asking T.J. to focus on being a pass-catcher would be wise for Pittsburgh as they have both Gentry and Freiermuth to block.

The addition of Hockenson would make Pittsburgh’s two tight end sets deadly. Having T.J. would basically be having two of Pat Freiermuth because of their similarities in size, athleticism, and production in the offense. The 24-year old would make life easier for whoever the next Steelers QB is and would make life hard on opposing defenses considering the other weapons on the Steelers offense.

These 3 players would boost Pittsburgh’s offense a considerable amount. The Steelers could possibly go back to the days of Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell with the running backs and receivers they would have in this scenario. Penni Sewell could have gone on this but I think the Steelers would benefit from these three more and because the current tackles have had a decent season and are improving if you dive into the stats.
