Steelers White gets first career score

The Steelers are hurting massively at receiver right now, as their top two targets are on the shelf this week with Chase Claypool being ruled out. While the team will still turn to Diontae Johnson and James Washington, someone else will have to step up. While Anthony Miller will likely get called up, I think Cody White makes the key play of the game.

Early in the third quarter with the Steelers trailing 13-7, the offense orchestrates a drive deep into the Lions’ territory. A play-action pass finds Cody White, the physical outside receiver, one on one in the end zone. Ben Roethlisberger tosses a beautiful jump ball that White then comes down with to give the team the lead.

His stat line for the day isn’t huge, just three receptions for 20 yards, but that score gives the Steelers the lead again. From there, they can get back to relying on their running game to beat down the Lions. White looks solid as a physical presence in this receiving room, and the extra time he has spent on the active roster pays off finally.
