1. Steelers must tighten up the run defense

While the defense, in general, has been solid, the run defense has been mediocre. Prior to Week 10, Pittsburgh was 15th in the NFL allowing 109.8 yards a game. This isn’t necessarily bad, but it is a unit that can be better, and with the contenders in the AFC, they will have to be better.

If the Steelers are going to make a playoff run, they first have to do well in the division. In the AFC north are the Browns and Ravens, the top two rushing teams in the NFL. With three matchups left against those two opponents, Pittsburgh will have its hands full stopping their run game.

It must be done, however, if the Steelers want to be serious contenders. This defense is more than capable and has the pieces necessary to lock in and shut an offense down. They did it once to the Browns, although it was a vulnerable time for Cleveland, they still did it. That means they can do it again.
