Tyler’s is not a sure first-rounder; instead, more of a sleeper selection. However, depending on his 2021 college season, he could be in the running as a contender.

He is by far the biggest of all potential quarterbacks. He stands 6’5” 225lbs, and he is massive for a quarterback. Thus can withstand contact on the field, and his athleticism allows him to extend plays, mainly by rolling out. Though not a  rush threat, his size and strength make him difficult to take down, though. Also, he can create decent velocity on the ball while throwing on the run. He also can use his running ability to draw defenders off their routes, thus opening up a receiver downfield.

His negatives? The velocity he puts on the ball falls short of targets on occasions his accuracy can be called into question or, at the least, is inconsistent. Thus misses safer options for riskier passes and tends to force his passes at that point.  Under pressure, he leaves the pocket too early and has a bad habit of not seeing the linebackers ahead of the receiver routes.

Shough has a decent shot at succeeding on the NFL level. The real question, though, is where he realistically goes in the draft. The further he slips, the less likely teams consider him as a potential starting quarterback and more likely a backup quarterback.  Then again, Tom Brady was a 6th round draft choice, so there is no guarantee that it will be negative if he slips in the draft.  Depending on how his 2021 season goes, he could also pop up in the rankings, and analysts could consider him a first-rounder.

No matter how it’s sliced, he could land in the Steelers grasp come draft day. It would be exciting seeing him in a Steelers uniform.
