The Pittsburgh Steelers made some questionable decisions releasing talented players over the past two years. Here are three players they should have held onto.

It’s not easy cutting an NFL roster from 90 players all the way down to 53. Oftentimes, teams that are particularly deep at a few positions are forced to cut talented players who are later snatched up by opposing NFL teams.

The Pittsburgh Steelers typically do a pretty good job on cutdown day, but every once in a while, they will let go of a player who everyone wants to see make the final roster. In the same way, Kevin Colbert has allowed cheap players to walk in free agency who looked like young, promising options for the future. Here are three players the Steelers should have held onto:

Giants EDGE Quincy Roche

After losing Bud Dupree in free agency this past offseason, I would have thought that this team would have made more of an effort to keep some young talent around. However, that didn’t seem to be high on their list of priorities.

Many analysts believed that Quincy Roche was one of the steals of the NFL Draft. The former Temple and Miami product was wildly productive during his collegiate career and had a knack for getting after the quarterback.

Despite an impressive summer that included some splash plays in his first NFL preseason, Roche didn’t even make Pittsburgh’s initial roster to begin the year. To make matters worse, the team also elected to part ways with Jamir Jones as well. Roche is currently a rotational edge defender for the New York Giants who has played quite well when called upon this season.
