Steelers DT Cam Heyward
Cam Heyward seemed like the only notable name on defense and the defense played like that was true. Heyward was among maybe three players that tried their hardest on every single play and were an impact in the game. Although he only totaled up 2 tackles, the highlight of his night was when he chased Chargers QB Justin Herbert down the field for 40 yards and saved a touchdown.
That single play made fans realize that Heyward was really trying when it seemed the defense wasn’t at all. Cam also was partly responsible for Herbert’s lone turnover because he climbed an imaginary ladder and deflected the pass.
Cam Heyward gives 100% all of the time and he really showed that to the NFL with last night’s performance. He is one of the underrated defensive linemen and players in the entire league and it’s crazy how his work ethic and leadership go unnoticed in the NFL. Cam Heyward will more than likely not have to do it alone against Cincinnati. Minkah Fitzpatrick should be cleared from Covid-19 protocols and T.J. Watt should be ready to go from his hip/knee injury, making his 2021 debut against the Bengals.
The 41-37 loss was heartbreaking, but there were more than these three players who performed well and I would like to acknowledge Alex Highsmith, Chase Claypool, and Cam Sutton as players who were also heavy contributors on Sunday night. Hopefully, the team can bounce back against the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium and get a much-needed win.
