The Steelers have shown this year they are always going to compete no matter what kind of talent they put on the field.

With that being said, the 2022 NFL draft might be one of the most important drafts for the Steelers in the past decade. The Pittsburgh Steelers need to go all offense in the first 3 rounds of the 2022 NFL draft.

This year, despite the current 5-3 record, the Steelers offense has a lot of holes that need to be filled. There is plenty of talent in this upcoming draft to fix the current issues and I believe these 3 players could keep the Steelers competitive for next year and beyond.

1st Round- QB Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers need to draft Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. At this moment in time, Pickett will likely land in the middle of the first round and that is where I believe the Steelers will most likely end up.

I mentioned in one of my previous articles 3 reasons why the Steelers should draft Kenny Pickett, and my mind still hasn’t changed. The kid has great pocket awareness, an accurate arm, and can use his legs when needed too.

Pickett is a fantastic downfield passer. He has thrown the deep ball 48 times this year completing 27 of those passes for 941 yards and 12 touchdowns to only 2 interceptions. This currently has him at a 56.3% completion percentage when throwing downfield.

When he throws from 10-19 yards, he has completed 53 of 88 passes which gives him a 60.2 completion percentage. He has 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions on the year when throwing mid-range passes. Pickett on the year has a total of 29 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions and might possibly win the Heisman. He is the future for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
