Pittsburgh loves big quarterbacks

Jameis Winston is a large man at 6’4 and 230 lbs. He became a member of the 5,000-yard season club in 2019. Tom Brady’s arrival sent him packing. I understand that he has his faults. He also threw 30 interceptions in 2019 and he is currently on the Saints IR after suffering a torn ACL in his revenge game against the Buccaneers. He is a great quarterback.

The Steelers would have to outbid the Saints on this one but a quarterback with a big body, rocket for an arm, and the ability to run can come at a high cost. The downside is that they would have to find a way to limit his turnovers. I do think they can do it. It was just 3 years ago that Ben led the league in interceptions at 16. While that is nearly half of Winston’s mark in 2019 I do think that in Canada’s offense Winston’s interception numbers can go down.

Winston can throw the occasional deep ball to superstar Chase Claypool or Diontae Johnson to help take pressure off the run game. Najee Harris is the future of this offense and Pat Freiermuth is on a path that should see him as one of the best tight ends in the league. A mobile QB with a cannon may allow Canada’s offense to thrive like we haven’t thought possible.
