Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth

I think it’s likely that the Steelers could get Pro Bowl players out of their first two selections from the 2021 NFL Draft. In addition to Najee Harris having a bright future ahead of him, Pat Freiermuth could prove to have an even longer career with this team as a very good football player.

You can see the traits already with Freiermuth. At 6’5” and 258 pounds, the former second-round pick moves like a big wide receiver but is incredibly hard to bring down after the catch. In addition, Freiermuth has been a terror when blocking on the move, and he’s only going to continue to grow in his technique with game experience.

Still, I wouldn’t suggest that he should be a Pro Bowl tight end just yet. While Freiermuth has been Pittsburgh’s best offensive player at times, there are other games where he doesn’t seem to make much of an impact. When it comes to voting, it’s hard to justify his pedestrian stats. While the 5 touchdowns are nice, Pat has just 287 receiving yards through 10 games.

Players like Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, Darren Waller, Mike Gesicki, and T.J. Hockenson have all been far more productive. As much as I love Freiermuth, it’s really hard to make a case for the Pro Bowl this year for him.
