Steelers WR Chase Claypool

It baffles me that Chase Claypool would have the audacity to say that the team could use music to ‘make practice more fun’ after the game he just had. While I normally give Claypool a bit of a pass due to poor downfield target quality from Ben Roethlisberger, he has nobody to blame but himself for his poor performance in Week 12.

Thanks to a few nice catches in traffic down the sideline, Claypool still managed 82 receiving yards on the afternoon. However, he was able to reel in just 3 of 8 targets thrown his direction in Week 12.

Two plays, in particular, stood out here. Early in the contest, it appeared as if Ben was throwing a back-shoulder route when Claypool kept running straight. The result of the play was an interception by the Bengals. Later, Claypool had a bad drop over the middle that he had ample opportunity to collect.

This was just a bad performance from a player who has struggled to get on the same page as his quarterback all season long. Chase Claypool has a ton of talent, but he hasn’t come close to putting it all together yet.
