Can the Steelers stop Jackson?

Anytime you face the Ravens, the defensive focus has to be on stopping Lamar Jackson, as the quarterbacks’ play is so unique in this league. He can throw deep, short, and of course, he is dynamic taking off and running with the ball. That said, he has looked completely beatable this season, and the Steelers have done a good job of planning around him in the past.

This isn’t that same Steeler’s defense though, and this unit will have to be dedicated to not letting Jackson kill them this week. While Devonta Freeman has stepped in and played ok as a replacement running back, Jackson is the primary threat here. That said, this defense has been roasted by running games over the past three weeks. They will have to shape up and quickly if they want to have a shot at winning this week.

Simply put, if the Ravens are allowed to run wild as the past three teams have, the team will have no chance at beating them. Running is the Ravens’ first and second choice on offense and if allowed to pick up chunks of yards on the ground, they will and avoid passing the ball. The Steelers have to put their best foot forward with their run game this week and shut it down if they want any chance of coming out of this matchup as the victors.

It has been a tough stretch of games for the team, and the Ravens poise a huge threat as they usually do. The Steelers’ chances of winning seem thin, but there is a path that could end with them as the victors. That said, in order to do so, the Steelers will have to answer these questions before the game ends if they want to be the winners.
