Hollywood toasts the Steelers

While the Steelers should come off as a better overall team this week, the secondary issues on the team seem to be rearing their head. While the running defense has been pathetic to this point, the secondary hasn’t been much better. While Joe Haden hasn’t been an incredible presence on the field, he has been a stabilizing force that this team is dearly missing.

That all said, the biggest threat to this defense is the deep passing game. None of their corners have great speed, which can be compensated in most cases by good technique. For those few receivers that have elite speed though, they can burn this defense. That has been seen time and time again, and Marquise Brown thus poses a huge threat because of that.

While Brown has been solid all over the field this year, his deep speed should be the primary focus of this defense. My guess is that he hits two deep passes this week: one for a score and another that sets up a scoring play deep in their red zone. Assuming the pass rush gets back on track this week, the secondary should look better, but even then, Brown should still see some deep looks. Don’t be surprised to see Brown win deep during this game.
