The Steelers came from behind to get a much-needed win against the Baltimore Ravens

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve been able to discuss a Steelers win, having tied then losing the last two games, but it’s good nonetheless.  Beating the Baltimore Ravens, a division rival, at home in the manner in which we beat them is just a little bit more special than simply getting a win against any other team.

It’s not as if we completely dominated the Ravens, but in a game where most, if not all, of the pundits were predicting a loss, we were able to put things together in the second half and pull out a much-needed and much-deserved victory.

Let’s see what we learned from the Steelers win against the Ravens.

The Steelers offense continues to be a work in progress

I honestly cannot believe we are talking about the inability of the Steelers offense to come out of gates quickly and efficiently, but through twelve games of the 2021 season, that is exactly what we are talking about.

If you watched the game, you will understand what I’m about to say; If you didn’t watch the game, if I were to tell you that, according to ESPN, the Steelers offense ran fifty-seven plays compared to sixty-nine plays for the Ravens and that we possessed the ball for twenty-three minutes and thirty seconds compared to thirty-six minutes and thirty seconds, who would you think won the game?

Based on those two statistics alone, we should not have won the game.  We surely did not have a stellar offensive performance, but Ben Roethlisberger, true to form, came through when it mattered the most, orchestrating a fourth-quarter drive that gave us our first lead of the game.

Think about that for a minute…the Steelers offense did essentially nothing until late in the fourth quarter.  Had it not been for ‘Big Ben’ leading said drive, I dare say we would probably be talking about a loss rather than reveling in a win against the Ravens.

Let’s see what else we learned.
