The Steelers defense turned in another winning performance against the Ravens

The Steelers ‘D’ put forth yet another herculean effort, keeping us in the game and affording ‘Big Ben’ and the offense an opportunity to take the lead.  The fact that the ‘D’ was able to generate seven sacks and force one INT is nothing short of amazing considering we were playing against an extremely mobile QB.

After giving up forty-one points in each of the previous two games, which was disgraceful, by the way, the ‘D’ stiffened to allow nineteen points, albeit we surrendered a late TD, which could have been costly had the Ravens converted the two-point try.

Chris Wormley, the former Raven, came up big, registering two and a half of the aforementioned seven sacks with T.J. Watt and Cam Heyward chipping in three and a half sacks and one sack, respectively. Frankly, we expect to see Watt and Heyward get sacks, but Wormley ‘getting home’ two and half times was refreshing to see.

What was not refreshing to see was this:  We still have mental lapses in coverage, we still lack quality depth at certain positions and we still seemingly call the same plays regardless of who is on the field.  Those factors were not detrimental to our winning efforts, but they easily could have been detrimental.

Let’s see what else we learned.
