3 impressive Steelers performances against the Ravens
The Steelers had some big performances from their players in a 20-19 win over the Ravens, which three were the most impressive?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the win column after a nerve-racking performance. The defense totaled 7 sacks on opposing quarterback Lamar Jackson and disrupted their offense just enough. The offense took flight in the second half and found some rhythm late. Here are three Steelers players that gave impressive performances against the Baltimore Ravens.
Steelers OLB T.J. Watt
T.J. Watt played like T.J Watt in this matchup despite not practicing all week due to being placed on the COVID list. Watt posted 3.5 sacks, 3 TFLs, 6 QB hits, 6 tackles, and a career-high 12 QB pressures against the Ravens on Sunday. T.J. feasted on the Baltimore offensive line all game long and dominated the line of scrimmage when called upon.
One of his best plays came on the two-point conversion attempt when he somehow went unblocked and jumped in Jackson’s face to try and block the pass. It ended up working because Lamar threw the ball just a bit in front of Mark Andrews and he couldn’t come down with it. The Steelers are winless in their few games without the superstar pass-rusher and it was uncertain if he would play in this game all throughout last week, but he did and I’m sure every Steeler fan is happy he did.
Watt now has joined some very good company. With his 3.5 sacks against the Ravens, he ties the franchise’s single-season sack record at 16.0 sacks which is currently held by James Harrison. T.J. now leads the NFL in sacks and he has already missed over 2.5 games this season. He also joins Reggie White as the only other player in NFL history to notch 13 sacks in four straight seasons.
It is very clear this year that he should win DPOY and it would look very good on his resume when it comes time for him to hang up his cleats. With the monstrous season he is having and all that he has done on the field, it is safe to say that he is worth every cent of his $112 million contract and might even be underpaid.
