Steelers WR Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson once again was the face of the offense this season and he played exceptionally despite dropping a touchdown. Johnson tallied 8 receptions for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns, including the game-winner. Diontae and the entire offense struggled in the 1st half as they totaled just 3 points and 93 total yards over 19 offensive plays.

Baltimore also dominated the time of possession throughout the game, but Ben kept looking towards Diontae and he kept making plays. Johnson also had his longest play of 29 yards which was his 1st touchdown of the game. Diontae shredded a few tacklers on Sunday and showed off his run after the catch ability which was much needed on some plays that kept Pittsburgh in the game.

Following Sunday’s win, Steelers Wire said that after the game, Johnson responded to a question about his dropped touchdown and how he was able to bounce back after it happened and he said, “Last year I don’t know what I would have done in that situation – probably folded,” he said. Diontae spent the recent offseason working on his catching and so far he only has 1 drop and 76 catches over the 2021 season.

The 25-year old receiver has been the team’s number one receiver since arriving and reminds some of Antonio Brown and his route running. Diontae Johnson has been consistent this year and seems to have fixed his issue with dropping passes, now he can enjoy the love from the fans and recognition he most definitely deserves.
