Steelers CB Ahkello Witherspoon

It’s weird to even type the name Ahkello Witherspoon since he has only suited up for five games with the Steelers since being acquired before the season. Witherspoon is seeing more action due to a lingering foot injury that is currently haunting Joe Haden.

Ahkello was a hero today due to his timely 2 interceptions that the offense scored 15 points off of, which is a rare occurrence. Witherspoon spent some time covering Justin Jefferson and must have done a good job because aside from his touchdown and 18-yard grab, there wasn’t much noise from the former first-round pick.

When he is playing, Witherspoon has allowed 6 catches on 11 targets with 137 yards and a touchdown, but considering what receivers he’s suited up against, it’s not a bad stat line whatsoever. Ahkello created opportunities to win and it almost worked, but this performance should give him more opportunities to play and maybe give the Steelers more reliable depth when Joe Haden comes back.

Another great performance was by Minkah Fitzpatrick, he saved multiple touchdowns in the first half when Dalvin Cook tore through the defense and he had some good coverage plays that forced the Vikings to punt. He did draw a flag that should not have been called but it end up costing the team points.

The Steelers have the Titans, Cheifs, Browns, and Ravens left on their schedule and with suffering the loss on Thursday, their playoff chances have dropped significantly and now it looks very unlikely that they make the playoffs.
