The Steelers receiving room went from one of the deepest in the league to one of the thinnest. The team went from JuJu Smith-Schuster in the slot to now Ray-Ray McCloud after his season-ending injury. While McCloud has been a decent returner and a gadget offensive player, he isn’t cut out to be a starting receiver on this team.

While he isn’t seeing the majority of snaps in the receiver rotation, he has played anywhere from 35-70 percent of the offensive snaps since having to become one of the top options. Anthony Miller has only been called up for one game so far and has one reception in for only two yards, he looked good while on the field.

Miller’s lone catch was an impressive one, as he snagged the ball out of the air with one hand. His overall route running and hands are sharper than McCloud’s and he has more experience in the slot than McCloud. Is he a huge upgrade? No, but he is a new face in an offense that has been stale at times. It is time for McCloud to take the bench on offense and make way for Miller to get more playing time.
